Dear Friends, We arrived at the Governor’s Mansion in January 2016. It had been twenty-plus years since the Mansion had been refurbished by former Governor Mike and First Lady Alice Foster and the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion Foundation. After years of high traffic, it was time to update and refresh the Mansion’s interior. We initially contacted Gayle Benson, who was a charter member of the Louisiana Interior Designers Association. With the encouragement of Gayle Benson, we were able to get a team of designers from around the state to volunteer their services to help us renovate the Governor’s Mansion through the newly created Governor’s Mansion Preservation Foundation. In this book, you will see before and after photos of many rooms that have been redesigned and updated by our remarkable team of designers. We could not be prouder of the work these talented people from all over our state performed here. Many people came together to make this project successful: designers, businesses, master craftsmen, and those that gave monetary donations. We appreciate each of them, and we could not have completed the work without their support. It is truly heartwarming to realize how many people are eager to preserve our State Home.
