The 2004 ornament depicts the Fleur d'Lis - a symbol to Louisiana that is mainly attributable to it's position on the old French Flag, which was white with three gold Fleur d'Lis'. The French picked the Fleur d'Lis to symbolize French royal power. The Fleur d'Lis has historically represented the Lily flower which has long been a symbol of Christ's resurrection.
This ornament is the first of four ornaments done during the Blanco Administration. Governor Blanco chose Louisiana Symbols for her 4 ornaments.
